On 17th January 2025, Queen Anne’s School was delighted to welcome the Rt Hon Robert Halfon, former Minister of State for Skills, Apprenticeships, and Higher Education, to speak with Sixth Form students about his inspiring career and life journey.

Mr. Halfon, who has served in numerous influential roles, including Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills and MP for Harlow, shared his unique insights into life as an MP. Reflecting on his journey including his childhood ambition, disability and political achievement, he discussed the challenges and triumphs of his career, including serving during the COVID-19 pandemic and how back-benchers can truly influence history.

The engaging session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing students to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the workings of parliament, how Robert represented his constituency, and the resilience required for such roles.

Queen Anne’s School is immensely grateful for Mr. Halfon’s visit and the opportunity it provided for our students to learn from his experiences. Visits such as these play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of leaders and empowering students with knowledge and perspective beyond the classroom.
