Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) is celebrating International Day of Education 2025 under the theme “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World.” The school is engaging with this global event to spotlight its commitment to guiding students in the ethical and innovative use of artificial intelligence in education.
At the forefront of SISD’s initiatives is the student-led Digital Council, comprising passionate young leaders dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of AI. The council is hoping to host a special assembly to educate other students on the ethical use of AI, showcasing projects that address its impact on individuals, society and communities.
These projects are designed to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities AI presents in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
“Our students are at the heart of our approach to AI integration,” said Abdulaziz Ahmed, head of the Digital Council at SISD. “Through the Digital Council and tailored learning opportunities, we empower them to use AI ethically and responsibly, preparing them for leadership roles and future-proofing them for a technology-driven world.”
SISD has embraced AI to enhance teaching and learning practices, employing tools like personalised chatbots and language support technologies that enable independent inquiry, streamline feedback processes, and create tailored learning experiences. These innovations not only improve student engagement and attainment, but also support teachers in managing workloads more effectively.
At the award-winning Al-Jaddaf based school, AI technologies have revolutionised teaching by streamlining feedback processes and making learning more accessible, engaging, and effective for all students.
As part of the celebration, students will explore how AI can drive positive change while maintaining a human-centred approach, reflecting SISD’s commitment to fostering global-minded leaders. The special day underscores the school’s broader mission to prepare its students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
The International Day of Education, observed annually on January 24, celebrates the pivotal role of education in fostering global peace and development. Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018, this day underscores education as a fundamental human right and a public responsibility.
Education is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty, promoting gender equality and building sustainable societies. The International Day of Education serves as a call to action for nations to provide inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4.
