Prestfelde is an independent preparatory school in Shrewsbury for children aged 3 to 13. Based in 30 acres of quiet parkland – yet conveniently right on the edge of the county town – we are one of Shropshire’s leading independent schools, with a reputation for academic excellence but also offering a broad-based education suitable for every child. Primarily a day school with the option of flexible and weekly boarding, there are approximately 300 boys and girls at the school. There is an average class size of 15 children, and no class exceeds 20.
The school was assessed as excellent (the highest possible rating) in all key areas by the Independent School Inspectorate in the last full inspection in 2015. A compliance inspection was carried out in late Autumn 2018 and the results could not have been more positive!
A particular feature of the school is the high standard of the facilities within the site: there are dedicated Music, Art and Design/Technology Schools which compare very well with those of many senior schools locally. Recent additions include the impressive 300-seater Blackburn Chapel/Theatre at the front of the school and an entirely renovated swimming pool which is appreciated by all of the pupils as well as the local community.
