ROSSALL SCHOOL

Rossall School is one of the country’s leading independent co-educational boarding and day schools, in a picturesque and historic setting on the Lancashire coastline. Amidst striking architecture, on a generous 160-acre campus, boys and girls aged 0–18 are nurtured in a safe, secure and supportive environment.

Community

Our pupils are truly outstanding individuals – the extraordinary success of this community is reflected in our confident, accomplished, courageous, aspirant, compassionate and fun-loving young people.

There is no doubt that all of our pupils benefit from being part of an intellectually exciting and culturally dynamic community. They have countless opportunities to explore their interests and to develop their skills.

We focus huge attention upon each individual whilst ensuring a vibrant and inclusive School.

Curriculum

Pupils can choose to study the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP), A Levels or BTEC at Sixth Form. In the Junior School, a broad curriculum is delivered that supports the development of independent learning, skills, curiosity and creativity, alongside subject specific rigour.

Facilities

The 160-acre campus has extensive sports and recreation facilities which include a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool, a new Performing Arts Centre, Golf Academy, squash courts, tennis courts, Fives courts, a modern all-weather sport pitch, a multi-use games area, a new £4 million indoor sports centre, extensive sports pitches and a fitness room. Rossall is also proud to be one of the only schools in the country with an on-site Astronomy Centre. In addition, there are performance rooms for music, drama and dance, including a 450-seater venue. Rossall also has an impressive Gothic-style Chapel, home to the internationally renowned school choir.

Boarding from age 7

Rossall provides 24-hour care to enable pupils to settle in to life at a boarding school in a new country.

For younger pupils (aged 7-13) there is a dedicated Junior boarding house and for senior students (aged 13-18), there are seven senior boarding houses (four boys houses and three girls houses). Each has a home-from-home family atmosphere and a team of residential staff on hand, including houseparents, deputy houseparents and a matron. All houses have a mix of nationalities, as well as a high intake of British day pupils. Junior boarders enjoy a fun packed supervised weekend activity programme, whilst senior boarders are actively encouraged to join the extra-curricular programme during the week and at weekends.

Entrance examinations and scholarships

Entrance and scholarship examinations are held in December (Year 12) and January (Year 7 and 9) each year. The School offers exclusive competitive discounts to military and clergy families.

“Rossall School shapes lives by inspiring children to become lifelong learners. Our beautiful location and spectacular architecture provides a context within which children grow intellectually, culturally and socially. We are tremendously proud of our confident, creative and reflective boys and girls who routinely achieve excellence by virtue of Rossall’s modern and progressive education and this enables them to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.”
