Established in 1576 in the glorious Kent countryside, the School is steeped in history and tradition. It provides a safe, secure and stimulating environment for pupils which encourages excellence, high standards and provides support to all who need it. This, together with a grounding in moral, cultural and spiritual knowledge, promotes respect for others, along with self-respect. A great strength is the relationships fostered between staff, pupils and their families, which enables them to be supported in exceeding their potential. With a broad intake, the School normally aims to improve a pupil’s initial academic profile by 1/2 – 1 grade, per subject, by A Level. This puts the School in the top 15 per cent nationally for added value. In 2013, our high achieving top set achieved 99 per cent A* to B grades at A Level. This year 40 per cent will be taking up places at Russell Group universities, including Cambridge, Imperial, King’s College, UCL, Imperial, York and Warwick. Pupils are expected to commit to the necessary, hard, academic work that brings good results, but also to take full advantage of the range of opportunities available to them, including cultural visits and boarding house activities.
